The Competition and Fair Trading Commission (CFTC) on Wednesday 11th September, 2024, conducted a training workshop to about 100 Old Mutual members of staff.
The training which was on the Competition and Fair Trading Act (CFTA) was conducted physically in Blantyre at Old Mutual Head Office, but also available online to other members of staff outside Blantyre.
During the training workshop among others, CFTC highlighted provisions of the 2024 CFTA. The Act entered into force on 1st July this year.
The Old Mutual Staff members led by its Group Chief Executive Officer, Edith Jiya raised a number of issues including implications under the Act for non-disclosure of information by customers, tying of services for efficiency, directives from the Reserve Bank of Malawi and lowering of prices as an entry strategy.
CFTC Chief Executive Officer, Lloyds Vincent Nkhoma encouraged other companies to invite the Commission for trainings under the new CFTA.
