SPEECH DELIVERED DURING THE COMMEMORATION OF THE WORLD COMPETITON DAY BY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF CFTC MR. JAMES KAPHALE ON 5TH DECEMBER , 2020

It is with deep gratitude that I welcome our Guest of Honour the Secretary for Trade, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen to this auspicious occasion, where we are commemorating this year’s World Competition Day. Despite your tight schedules, you have prioritized this function, and we do not take it for granted.

Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, I hope I will not do justice if I do not give you a background for World Competition Day. As you might be aware, on 5th December, 1980, the United Nations adopted the international standard for competition laws called the Set of Multilaterally Agreed Equitable Principles and Rules for the Control of Restrictive Business Practices commonly known as the United Nations Set of Principles and Rules on Competition.
