Mr. Rex Nyahoda is a food and process scientist with more than 25 years’ operational experience in brewing, food processing and plastics manufacturing. Over the past two decades Rex has headed production management and quality assurance portfolios at Chibuku Products Limited, Tambala Food Products Limited, Universal Industries, Polypack Group Limited, and Capital Oil Refining Industries in addition to conducting various baseline surveys for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations [FAO] and developing concept notes and business plans for various companies which has assisted them win funding from the Malawi Innovation Challenge Fund [MICF] of the United Nations Development Program.
Rex has also served as Chairperson of the Manufacturers Association of Malawi. He is a registered consultant with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in a capacity of National Expert on Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015) and Food Safety Management System (ISO 22000) and has through this appointment provided technical assistance to some organizations including FlowTech, CORI, Project Peanut Butter (American NGO), Linga Wine, Promat, Ethanol Company, Mzuzu Coffee and Polypack Group. Under SQAM Project, he assisted the Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) in getting ISO accreditation, was coopted into the Technical Working Group that is developing Malawi’s National Export Strategy II. Recently, he worked as a Director at Maximus Africa Investment Management, a specialist investment management and corporate advisory firm before joining the Competition and Fair Trading Commission, an agency of the Malawi Government established under Section 4 of the Competition and Fair Trading Act CAP 48:09 of the Laws of Malawi, where he is Director of Competition.
Rex has an MBA and a BSc Degree in Environmental Science & Technology both from the Polytechnic, University of Malawi.
