CFTC CRISSCROSSES MALAWI IN AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

The Competition and Fair Trading Commission (CFTC) has since 19th June, 2023 been visiting a number of districts in the country in a bid to raise awareness on competition and consumer protection.

Last week, officials from the Commission were in Nsanje, Chikwawa, Chitipa and Karonga meeting traders and district officials to sensitise them on the Commission’s mandate and functions. The participants to the sensitization meetings were also made aware of their rights as consumers and their obligations as traders. After the meetings, the officials conducted market surveillances in the districts, visiting business premises to check on compliance to the Competition and Fair Trading Act and the Consumer Protection Act

This week, officials from CFTC have been to Phalombe, Mulanje, Thyolo, Mchinji, Kasungu and Mchinji. Next week, the Commission will cap the campaign with visits to Mangochi and Machinga.
