CFTC Executive Director, Lloyd Vincent Nkhoma

The Competition and fair Trading Commission (CFTC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Lloyds Vincent Nkhoma as its new Executive Director effective 4th February, 2023.

Mr. Nkhoma is a professional expert in competition policy formulation, enforcement and application at national and regional level. He was part of the initial staff that operationalized CFTC in 2007 on secondment from the Ministry of Trade and Industry. He has also served at the COMESA Competition Commission (CCC) as Head of Enforcement and Exemptions. He has, in the process, handled a substantial number of cases relating to mergers and acquisitions as well as restrictive business practices at national and regional level. He currently serves on the Board of the CCC.

He also has vast experience in trade, investment and industrial development programmes having worked at the Ministry of Trade and Industry as well as in the diplomatic service as Vice Consul responsible for Investment and Trade at the Malawi Consulate General in Johannesburg, South Africa.  He further has substantial knowledge and experience in the developments pertaining to the regional economic integration agenda having participated in the various negotiation processes at COMESA, SADC and other platforms.

He holds a Master’s Degree and a Postgraduate Diploma in Economics for Competition Law from Kings College London. He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences majoring in Economics from the University of Malawi.
